ISACA is an internationally recognized professional association dedicated to the dissemination of expert knowledge, effective training, and certification of business technology professionals. Its main focus is on IT governance.

The organization was founded in the U.S. in 1969 as a nonprofit association dedicated to the field of auditing electronic data processing. Currently, the association works in almost all industry areas and has more than 200 chapters in 80 countries. What's more, ISACA already has more than 145k members and specifiers, including educators, consultants, regulators, information system auditors, internal auditors, IS security professionals, and chief information officers among others.

Certifications

Since its inception, ISACA has developed a comprehensive accreditation program for professionals in various fields, as well as related certification examinations and training. Thus, the following qualification pathways are available to candidates:

• CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) is one of ISACA's best-known certifications which is considered to be a foundation for building a successful career in IT. IT is intended for entry-level and mid-career professionals and verifies your skills to implement a risk-based approach in planning, carrying out and reporting on audit tasks.
• CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control) is designed for mid-level information technology professionals who certify their risk management skills including identification, analysis, evaluation, and timely response. • CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) is one of ISACA's core certification paths focused on quality information security management. Thus, this qualification will serve as official proof of your advanced skills in the development of an effective information security program, risk management, as well as monitoring and proper response to various information security incidents. This designation is designed for those professionals who plan to be promoted from team member to manager. However, in addition to successfully passing the relevant accreditation exam, you must have a minimum of 5 years of working experience in information security management. • ITCA (Information Technology Certified Associate) is designed for novice IT specialists and even students who do not have relevant practical experience. In any case, this track implies that during the certification process the candidate is able to cover all the skills necessary for his/her career including computing, network infrastructure, cyber security, software development, and data science. Thus, it is necessary to qualitatively prepare for and successfully pass the 5 official tests.
• CET (Certified in Emerging Technology) is designed for IT professionals in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, Blockchain, cloud technology, or IoT. Thus, this certification will confirm that you have the most relevant and in-demand skills. While your employers will understand that you can be hired in areas such as security, risk, IT auditing, cybersecurity, governance, and privacy.

The ISACA accreditation program is not limited to these options, as you may also be interested in other certification paths such as Cobit, CSX, Cybersecurity Audit, CCAK, or IT Risk Fundamentals.
