Veeam Software, also known simply as Veeam, is a Switzerland-based private company founded by Russian entrepreneurs Andrei Baronov and Ratmir Timashev. It was founded in 2006, and since then it has specialized in developing complex software for monitoring virtual environments on Hyper-V and VMware platforms, as well as virtual machine backups.

So, Veeam is currently the leader in backup, recovery, and data management solutions that provide Modern Data Protection. The single platform is offered for such environments as physical, virtual, cloud, SaaS, and Kubernetes. Moreover, this company has over 4.5 thousand employees and 400 thousand customers in 180 countries. Veeam's key partners are leading hardware and software vendors alongside system integrators. These include Cisco, NetApp, AWS, Microsoft, IBM, Lenovo, and Quantum, among others.

Technologies

Veeam's flagship product is the Veeam Cloud Data Management Platform which helps customers efficiently manage and maintain data availability across any cloud infrastructure or application. Veeam Backup & Replication is the first Veeam solution to be released as a tool for incremental backup and replication of virtual machines.

However, Veeam offers many solutions based on a virtual environment, cloud type, SaaS, physical environment, and applications. In addition, free tools such as Veeam Backup & Replication Community Edition, Veeam ONE Community Edition, Veeam Backup for AWS Free, and Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows / Linux Free, among others.

Certification

For candidates who want to manage company data efficiently and profitably, Veeam, through Veeam® Technical Education Services, offers several industry certification paths. In this way, professionals who are confident in the key features of the Veeam Availability Suite and capable of protecting an organization's data can prove their competencies as a Veeam Certified Engineer and then as a Veeam Certified Architect.

VMCE - Veeam Certified Engineer qualification is designed to formally validate the candidate's skills and technical knowledge related to implementing, managing, and configuring Veeam Availability Suite. All you need to do is attend an instructor-led three-day course (Veeam Availability Suite: Configuration and Management) at your nearest Veeam authorized training center, and score 70% on the appropriate VMCE exam. The exam is intended mainly for solution architects, system engineers, virtualization and backup administrators, and other IT specialists who use various Veeam products.

VMCA - Veeam Certified Architect qualification is the highest level certification issued by this vendor and is intended for candidates with an active VMCE certificate. Most of them are architects and senior engineers responsible for designing the architecture of different Veeam solutions. Thus, having received this accreditation, the specialists confirm that they have advanced knowledge of the key principles of architecture, as well as the confidence to design new Veeam solutions for different purposes. All this can be confirmed by passing the corresponding VMCA exam, where it is necessary to collect at least 70% of correct answers. This is not an easy test, so it is recommended that everyone first completes the two-day training (Veeam Backup & Replication™ v11: Architecture and Design) developed by Veeam.

Training Options

In addition to the appropriate courses for each exam, students are offered some additional educational tools. So depending on your learning style and goals, you can opt for free on-demand training from Veeam University, exclusive training materials from the Veeam ProPartner Portal, video tutorials about Veeam products and solutions, and the Veeam Community Resource Hub where you can discuss your questions.
